In many European countries
and in Japan, the solar industry has developed faster than in the
U.S. As a result,
most of the world’s leading manufacturers of solar cells and related
equipment are based outside of the U.S.
Industry analysts project
the solar energy industry to enjoy extraordinary growth, especially
in the U.S. This growth
will accelerate as solar cell efficiency improves and the cost to generate
solar electricity reaches traditional generation costs, also known
as “grid parity.”
As a result, foreign-based
companies are eagerly seeking to locate manufacturing facilities
in the U.S.

With our abundant sunshine,
growing population and commitment to renewable energy, Arizona is poised to become
a leader in adopting solar energy for residential, commercial
and industrial use. Arizona
will, over the coming decades, produce an increasing amount of our
energy from sunlight, and to do this, we will deploy many
thousands of solar panels and associated systems.
Arizona can – and
should – benefit from this industry growth
by encouraging producers of solar panels, related equipment, installation
and support services to locate their factories,
facilities and offices here, where the solar systems will be installed
and operated.
